Grasp all, lose all

There lived a farmer in a village. ( a short story ) He had a wonderful goose. The goose laid an egg of gold every day. The farmer was very greedy. He thought that the stomach of the goose was full of eggs. If he could get all the eggs at a time, he would be a rich man quickly. In order to satisfy his greed, he cut the belly of the goose but found no egg there. ( a short story ) He became extremely disappointed and lost the valuable goose forever. ( a short story ) Instead of becoming rich he became poor. Through this incident the farmer understood that over greediness brought misfortune for him.
